Itanum Kalinaw Project: 2006-2010

SALUTE to the PEACE INITIATIVES THRU ART 2006-2010: Kalimudan Culture and Arts Center and ACT for PEACE PROGRAMME, a collaborative experience

ITANUM KALINAW: PLANT THE SEED FOR PEACE 2006-2010

A Tribute to a Six Years of Solid Partnership & Collaboration for the Promotion and Planting of the Seed of Peace

This 2011, our last project from the Agency would kick start this October-November with a series of Art for Peace Workshops for the Bakwits-Evacuees of Maguindanao, Lanao, and Sarangani. This trust from ACT for PEACE PROGRAMME is indeed our honor and gratitude. No amount of words can signify our sincerest thank you. Though the Agency would bid farewell in its peace initiatives and major peace efforts in the region, we and the rest of those on whom the Agency has inspired, will surely continue the torch of peace making and peace building in this part of Mindanao.

With this tandem between the Kalimudan Culture and Arts Centre and UNDP ACT for PEACE PROGRAMME came about the project 'ITANUM KALINAW', the idea of Kuya Romy way back 2004 that has been passed down from one sponsor to the next-Me and Alma attended various meetings and gate-crashed conventions just for the project to be approved. Only then our dreams were realized through this Peace Agency that made it come true. 'Itanum Kalinaw' was borne with a traveling play by MSU-Kabpapagariya Ensemble, technicals and logistics were handled by the 'barako' girls: alma aguja, zita putian, and later on with ruth cartojano and cecile diono, with the visual components with art consultant, ali.

We present these pictures of the six years of partnership and collaboration with the colors, faces and facets of Peace Initiators, Audience, Advocates, Artists, Specialists, Kids, Youths, and Volunteers
International singer Arnel Pineda joins the list of celebrities (Duncan Ramos) advocating for peace in Mindanao as he visited a peace and development community (PDC) to bring the message of hope. He was awarded as the newest peace champion for his love to help promote peace in Mindanao. He was the highlight in the ‘Panaghoy sa Kalinaw’, a concert for peace intended to help "bakwits" evacuees go back to school this opening. This author was given the chance to direct the show in tandem with Kuya Romy.
