Itanum Kalinaw IV: Mindanao Peace Week 2009

ITANUM KALINAW 4 2009

-advocacy on peace thru arts, music, theater, sponsored by GOP-UN ACT FOR PEACE PROGRAMME with the Socsargen Peace Network & Kalimudan Culture & Arts Center

A continuation of the peace project for the 4th time that organizes artists as advocates for peace, art for peace workshops, peace exhibits, and other programs slated around the city of Gensan and outlying Municipalities of Sarangani Province.

a pre-mindanao peace week activity of 2009, an Arts for Peace Workshop facilitated by Gensan artist-Al-Nezzar Ali, participated by 200 students representing the entire SOCSARGEN Area.

Arnel Pineda of Journey fame came as Peace Ambassador and treated PDCs of Act for Peace Programme with series of visits together with the Mayor of Gensan City, Mayor Acharon and Jes Dureza of Mindanao Development.

Arnel Pineda's Concert 'Awit para sa Kapayapaan' together with Duncan Ramos and selected local bands of Gensan, South Cotabato and Sarangani at KCC Convention Center, Gensan City. Kalimudan facilitated the concert & the program.

Kalimudan Culture and Arts Center Association, Inc. is a non-government organization composed of various individuals who are artists and advocates for social reform. Kalimudan is a Maguindanaon term for a gathering – non-religious and non-political gathering. The organization is a gathering of social advocates and cultural managers. These are men and women whose complimenting skills range from those with extensive NGO experience and background, cultural workers, researchers, artists and teachers. Kalimudan seeks to raise awareness, popularize and sustain advocacy on basic social issues that confront the local communities and society through culture and arts as its tool, as it links with local and national movements for social and cultural development.
